Briiv Pro – AI Powered Air Purifier

The irony of using most air purifiers is that they are polluting devices. How’s that? They use HEPA filters that decompose after thousands of years despite having a finite life. That’s the problem that the Briiv team has solved with a purifier that uses disposable but biodegradable filters – the Briiv Pro Air Purifier.

Design Language

For an air purifier, this one is an eye-catcher. It looks like a terrarium more than an air purifier. The upper, transparent glass part of its cylindrical design carries the moss and coconut filters, while the bottom, dark plastic part houses the Nano Matrix filter.

Interestingly, the plastic, despite looking non-biodegradable, is the opposite. That’s because the plastic is actually made from elephant grass, and so it’s environmentally friendly. However, I’d like to note that the bottom part felt a tad cheap to me, but that may not be a cause for concern (or even notable) for most users.

The Briiv Pro Air purifier comes with a 5ft (1.4m) USB cable for power delivery, but you can use non-proprietary cables if you want a longer or shorter reach.

There aren’t any physical buttons on the purifier, but the touch-sensitive control panel with sensors is reliable. Overall, it felt like Briiv did a fantastic job in their design room – from my end, I’ve not tried an air purifier as good-looking as this one.

How Does It Operate?

Just like its predecessor, the Briiv Air Filter, the air to be purified goes through the top glass dome, then through the moss filter, onto the coconut fiber filter, and finally through the Nano Matrix filter (contains carbon-infused hemp), then dispersed into the surroundings with the help of a fan at the bottom of the device.

Getting the app integrated with the device is an easy process, but you have to create an account and log in. Unlike using the touch control panel, the app gives you more functionality, and you can even set the purifier to operate autonomously.
