Bluetti AC300 Whole Home Off-Grid Power Station (3kW)

Previously on our website, we have covered many Bluetti power stations including their most recent AC200 max. But until now, we did not have an off-grid whole home portable battery station but with the introduction of Bluetti AC300, I can confidently say that there is a portable battery generator that can power an entire house, including your HVAC, for hours if not days.

There is a lot to talk about AC300 but before that let us know about Bluetti company. Bluetti has been manufacturing different portable power solutions for years now. They have products for any needs, be it a power bank to charge your phone, a CPAP solution, or a multipurpose battery station. After personally using their EB150 for almost a year now, I can confidently say that they have a high-quality customer support team which is very important when you are investing a load of money on something.

First Look

AC300 features a minimal, not too fancy design that closely aligns with AC200 and AC200 max. Unlike any other bluetti power station, this is a standalone (UPS only) unit. Any battery, needs to be attached to it separately.

The power station has 7 AC outlets, 6 of which are 20A ports and one is 30A. All these ports are 120 volts. The combined output capacity is 3000W.

We also have 2 DC ports, 12V/30A and 24V/10A. You can draw a max of 360W with 12V port.

Apart from those, we have a 100W USB-C PD port, 4 USB A ports of which 2 support 18W. 100W type C port is helpful in the near future. We also have 2 wireless charging pads on the top surface.

Finally, we have a display where all the power metrics are shown and an ON-OFF button.

Features and Specs of AC300

If you rank all of Bluetti’s power stations by specs, AC300 probably comes at the top. This off-grid power station can take in 4 batteries to supply power sufficient for an entire house.

Power Capacity

AC300 offers 3000W of pure sinewave power. For comparison, my parent’s house has a 1600W UPS and it can power the house, including a 375L refrigerator, washing machine and whatnot for a day if not days. 3kW is also enough for a wall-mounted or window-mounted AC (some HVAC systems will work as well).

Simply put, power capacity determines the max amount of power the power station can deliver.

Battery Capacity

It is important to note that AC300 alone does not have any batteries inside it. You will have to hook it up with an external battery that Bluetti sells. They sell two types of batteries, B300 and B230. But Bluetti recommends B300 for AC300.

You can add up to 4 B300 batteries each rated at 3072Wh. So, the max capacity is at 12,288Wh which is just ridiculously high. To give you an example, with this capacity, you can run a Laptop + LCD TV + Refrigerator for more than 2 days straight, wow. You can see a detailed performance table later in this article.

Surge

Surge is another important factor for any UPS. Having a good surge rating allows you to run power-tools without overloading your battery station.

Bluetti AC300 has a surge rating of 6000W but there is a limit on how long you can draw that much power.

If your load is 3100W to 3750, the surge lasts for 2 minutes, it is 5 seconds if the load is between 3750W to 4500W and it is 500ms for load over 4500W up to 6kW.

Example: If your water pump requires 3500W, Bluetti AC300 can run it for 2 minutes. In reality, most power tools only require surge for a few seconds, only during startup.

Good to know: More power = more devices, more battery = more duration

Can AC300 replace your home UPS completely?

It depends on your load and lifestyle. If you ask me personally, I would say YES because we have a 1600W UPS with 3600Wh battery capacity which is nothing when compared with AC300’s specs.

In general, 3000W is so high that you can power almost any device unless you are running a factory! Also, since you have an expandable battery system, you can always increase the battery capacity to increase the backup duration. Unlike a traditional UPS, I don’t think adding a new battery while having an old one negatively affects the overall battery performance but I could be wrong.

Optional 240V Connection

We can connect two AC300 in series with the BLUETTI Fusion Box Pro (P030A) and connect up to 8×B300’s (four for each AC300), boosting up to 240V, 6,000W, and a total of 24,576Wh– You are now in GOD mode lol.

MPPT Solar Charging

AC300 supports up to 2400W solar panel (12 to 150V range) which is good enough to recharge all the batteries in just 5 hours (assuming good sunlight and ideal efficiency). I would get a few 300W solar panels and install them on my rooftop instead of getting portable ones because I am not using AC300 for travel purposes.

Performance of AC300

Assuming 4 batteries totalling up to 12,288Wh capacity, we have this performance sheet

Final Verdict

By its mammoth power and battery capacities, AC300 is hands down a home UPS than a portable battery station. It has got great looks, excellent features and performance. On the flip side, AC300 is way too expensive. More expensive than any traditional UPS system. If you are going for it, I would recommend starting with 2 batteries and increasing as you may need.

You can buy AC300 on Amazon or Bluetti Official Site and also on Wellbots. Sometimes Wellbots offer a cheaper price
