Our body gets sore, muscles get tensed and the mind gets tired. Although there is no escape from these, there are ways to minimize/recover from them quickly. Being a gym freak, I would get muscle soreness a couple of times a week. You know what helped me with that? Cupping therapy.

In this review, we are going to explore an excellent electronic Cupping Device that works wonders. I can vouch for it because it has been over 6 months since I started using Achedaway Cupper Massager.

Unlike traditional cupper, this one does cupping as well as red light therapy simultaneously. It comes with different shapes and sized cups to accommodate various parts of the body, is rechargeable and has multiple preset massage modes. Let’s know more about the product!

What’s in the Box

  • Electronic cupper/pump
  • Three cup attachments, small, medium and big cups
  • USB C cable for charging
  • Cotton Filters (6)
  • A Lanyard

First Impressions

The cupper looks small and portable. Without the cup attachment, it can easily fit in your pocket. Weighing around 200 grams, the device seems light but not as light as the traditional cupper; which makes sense because of the involvement of batteries.

The top surface of the device has all the control buttons. In the very center, we have a power ON/OFF button. Once turned ON, that button also acts as massage ON/OFF.

There is a button to control the mode. The cupper supports 5 modes of operation

  1. Wake Up Mode
  2. Relaxing Mode
  3. Massage Mode
  4. Professional Mode
  5. Powerful Mode

The modes can be changed by pressing the button. There is an LED indicator (like |||||) that indicate what mode you are on.

We have a button to control the intensity of cupping. Total 5 levels. The higher the intensity, the more vacuum. I always keep mine at 1 or 2. There is an LED indicator for this as well.

Lastly, there is a button to control the Red light output. It is just an ON/OFF button. The red light will be activated once the cup is attached to the skin. I always turn the red light on. The default is blue light. A tiny LED light shows the status of this button.

There are 10 blue LEDs and a bright red LED on the bottom surface

Apart from the buttons, we have a USB C charging port on the side, an air inlet and outlet area and a lanyard hole. I personally don’t like a lanyard attached to it, I don’t see why it is useful.

How to Use

Achedaway Cupper can be used right out of the box. Mine came with the medium cup attached to the pump. All you have to do is turn it on and put it on your skin. You may then change the mode, intensity, red light, whatnot. The smartphone app is not needed for its operation and it is just an addon.

The manufacturer recommends cupping a spot for 3 to 12 minutes. I think 12 minutes is too much. For me, anything over 2 minutes felt too strong/irritating. If you use it for a longer duration, it leaves a perfectly shaped hickey that stays for days if not a week.

Pro Tip

Try changing the cup size to find what is best for you or the skin spot. I found the small cup to be very helpful for tight spots like neck area

Works with Wet Skin

This cupper also works with wet skin. So, you can put any essential oil on your body, spread it evenly and start cupping. But make sure the liquid does not get inside the air pump which may cause device failure.

There is a cotton filter attached to the base of the cup. It is used to block out granular or liquid impurities from the air pump. If you think the filter is worn out, you can replace it with a new one.

Battery Life and Charging

The cupper has an in-built rechargeable battery that lasts for several hours. I have been using this cupper for a long time now and never recharged it. To be approximate, I have used it for at least 3 hours in total. I am very happy with the battery life.

You can recharge the device with a USB C input. Works with all types of chargers, I use my PD charger to recharge this and it takes about 2.5 hours to fully charge. There is a charging indicator light; red – during charging and turns green when fully charged.

Note

The manufacturer does not recommend keeping the device plugged in for more than 8 hours at a time. It might reduce the battery efficiency

Achedaway App

There is a smartphone app associated with this cupper and it connects to your phone over Bluetooth. Personally, I don’t see any reason why the app is needed. I never use the app because it does nothing but control the cupper remotely. Unless I am using it on someone else, I have no reason to use it.

For your information, the app can control the operating mode, timer, etc. It does not show any stats or activity status. The only useful metric it shows is the battery level (not %).

Cleaning

The inside of the cups gets dusty over time. There is a filter that goes between the cup and the cupper. Once the cup is in place, the filter is not accessible which is good. The product can be cleaned with the help of a cloth and a liquid sanitizer but make sure the filer does not get wet.

There are 6 total filters in the package (3 come attached to the cups). If you think the current one is changing color or too old, change it. In my case, it is just me using the product and I use it a couple of times a week for 5-8 minutes. I am yet to replace the filter.

Red Light Therapy

I don’t know much about it but they say it helps your skin to stay young. With Achedaway cupper, you have a button to turn the red light on/off. When it is on, I have observed a slightly different feel on my skin.

The light stays blue during initialization but once the suction starts, it slowly turns red

My Personal Experience

I have been using this cupper for almost 6 months now and I am in love with it. Being a gym freak, I suffer from muscle soreness more often than now. When this happens, I go straight to my Achedaway cupper.

Also, the device is extremely useful to receive muscle pain, joint pain and whatnot. I sometimes get pain in my right shoulder (typically after an intense workout) and this cupper has helped me so much.

The only negative part is that this cupper is not 100% effective on some parts of my body. The neck area is one such. I have tried neck massage with this several times but it falls down frequently. It could be because of the uneven surface in the neck area which makes it hard for the cupper to attach tightly to the skin. Using the small cup might solve this issue for many people.

I recommend this product to all those who are into physically demanding tasks on a daily basis. Achedaway cupper is on the expensive side. If you have a budget for it, look no further, it is a very effective health & fitness gadget.
