Aventon has recently unveiled an upgraded version of their most budget-friendly eBike, the Soltera. If you’ve been considering a cost-effective eBike option, chances are that the Aventon Soltera has caught your attention. Now, with the introduction of the new Soltera.2 model, it’s worth delving into the differences to assess whether the price increase is justified.
For those who might not be familiar with the Aventon Soltera, it stands as an affordable yet feature-rich Class 2 eBike. The Soltera is designed to be lightweight and easily portable, making it a convenient electric bicycle choice. Notably, it is equipped with a 350W brushless rear hub motor, which is the preferred choice for daily commuting needs.

Most of the key features remain the same in both Soltera and Soltera.2. The main upgrade in Soltera.2 is the addition of a torque sensor. This is exactly the reason why the range on Soltera 2 is slightly higher than that of Soltera. Apparently, the Torque sensor makes the system more efficient and thus, an increase in the range (We reached out to Aventon to verify and confirm this information).
You can understand the detailed distinction between the torque sensor and the cadence sensor here
Apart from that there are some improvements in physical specifications such as disc brakes, tire size and most helpful being the turn indicators.
Soltera vs Soltera.2: Which one to consider?
Similar to most of the Aventon upgrades, nothing much has changed regards to look or specs. The main upgrade I would say is the addition of the Torque sensor and turn indicators. Torque sensor helps achieve smoother/better quality of ride as it amplifies your effort in real-time. If I was to choose between Soltera vs Soltera.2, I would definitely choose Soltera.2. I think $200 is worth the new changes, especially the new sensor.
