Divoom Pixoo Max – Smart, Pixel Display

If you like quirky retro products, you’re probably already familiar with Divoom – the company that crafts unique pixel art products like the Ditoo Speaker and the original Pixoo display. So, how about a larger, brighter, and more colorful display that can enhance your room decor? That’d be the Divoom Pixoo Max.

Design: What is it like?

The first thing that will catch your attention is the minimal yet complete design of the Pixoo Max. The front has nothing other than the 32×32 pixel display, which is a notable upgrade from the 16×16 display that comes with the original Pixoo. The only buttons (three of them) on this display are on the sides – 2 buttons for cycling through different visual channels, and one power button.

There’s also a microphone hole and a recessed type-C power port for charging the internal battery, but that’s it. As for the placement, you can either: mount the Pixoo Max on a wall, use the included stick to support it on a flat surface, or attach elements like suction cups to the the thread mounts at the back.

What features stand out?

Of course, the 32×32 LED display is the main feature, and thankfully, it’s designed as one – bright, vivid, and well-saturated. When using the display, you can create custom designs, change clock colors, and do more from the Divoom app.

Another cool feature you’ll love is the ability to display notifications from your phone on the screen. You can even play games on the display, using your phone as the controller.

How’s the Battery Life?

This retro display packs 5,000mAh worth of battery juice which is a perfect upgrade from the  2,500mAh that the original Pixoo comes with. That’s plenty of power to keep it going, but the battery life will depend on the features you’re using.

Just know that you should expect about a day’s continuous use from the display once it’s fully charged. The only downside is that you can’t check the remaining battery percentage from the app.

So, would it be worth a try?

Why not? The Divoom Pixoo Max is definitely a great boost for retro flair in your room. The display is among the best in the market for pixel art, and the app allows you to make the most of your new shiny retro display.
