Running out of power is a daunting experience, maybe you’re on an important phone call, on a vacation, or even camping in the middle of nowhere. Of course, you’d want to stay connected to the outside world. At crucial times, only a portable power delivery system can bring your phone, tablet or laptop back to life. To help you choose the right power bank, I am reviewing an ultra-powerful battery bank by Crave Direct. Meet, Crave PowerPack 2, a power bank that can charge any of your portable devices.

Unlike models, which pack about 10,000Ah up to 20,000, this portable charger comes with a battery capacity of 50,000mAh, which is enough to offer multiple charges, even for a laptop.

In this article, we’ll get down to a comprehensive crave powerpack review, a new acquisition, and jot down its main features and what it offers. If you have any questions related to the product, let me know in the comment section below and I will answer it.

Let’s dive in!

Unboxing

So, what should you expect to get in the box? Most high-end portable battery chargers are packed with some useful accessories. And with this product, you’ll be delighted to get some important accessories, as well. They include:

  • PowerPack 2, 50000mAh battery charger
  • USB-C cable
  • PD Wall Charger
  • Carrying sleeve

At a Glance/First Impressions:

Ports

When you look at the 50000mAh line up, you’ll notice features like 2x QC USB 3.0 quick charge ports, a PD 3.0 60W port, and a PD 18W port. With these ports, you can charge all your devices simultaneously as you sit on the couch. Sometimes, we’re too lazy to stand up and plug our electronics into the wall outlet.

To put everything into perspective, the two USB 3 ports are equipped with Quick Charge capabilities. Since these ports take in USB type-A cables, you can charge almost any device including phones, tablets, other power banks, and many other small equipments.

There is a 4 level blinking white LED light indicator but I wish it had a digital display

The other two USB-C ports – PD 18W and PD 60W, on the other hand, are essential as far as charging is concerned. For instance, you can utilize the 60W port for charging your laptop while the 18W port is perfect for smartphones. If you are wondering, most new laptops take USB C input. So, you can easily charge your laptop fully in around two hours.

Design

The Crave PowerPack comes with a black satin finish that looks modern, professional, and elegant in just about any setting. If you look at the top of this device, the words ‘Crave PowerPack’ take a white color.

In terms of construction, the case is crafted from rugged anodized aluminum. Both ends of the power bank feature a rubberized plastic padding, instead of aluminum.

The only drawback is that the unit isn’t water-resistant, but expect zero everyday bangs and bumps. It’s recommended that you treat it the same you normally treat your smartphone or laptop.

But keep in mind that this power bank is not small. It cannot be kept in your pocket but can easily be carried in your backpack.

Battery Capacity and Performance

As we know, most portable battery chargers feature a monstrous 10,000mAh up to 20,000mAh mark. However, the PowerPack 2 sit around 50,000mAh when it comes to battery capacity. That’s an incredible and massive battery to keep you going.

Meaning, the unit can charge not only your new MacBook but also many other laptops. Most laptop batteries are well under 50,000 mAh, in fact, CNET says the average laptop battery is between 2000 to 6000 mAh. That means you can charge the laptop more than 8 times.

Coming to smartphones, Crave Powerpack 2 can charge any smartphone 15+ times. In fact, when I was testing this power bank, I never plugged my smartphone into a wall charger for two weeks straight. Never exhausting power, that was the feeling I got.

Since it is 50,000mAh which is way over the limit set by TSA, you cannot carry this power bank in an airplane. So, if you are planning to take it on an overseas trip, well, you can’t.

Compatibility

It’s compatible with any smartphone and laptop out there. In the case of a laptop, ensure to plug in a USB-C type cable. Otherwise, you’ll find it complicated if you fail to read the user manual, mostly the beginners.

Again, keep in mind that this charger is limited to charging 2 laptops at the same time. Nonetheless, you can connect other devices like smartphones and tablets to make it 4. Not just limited to these devices, you can also recharge camera batteries, action cameras, other power banks and almost anything that supports USB charging. Some devices like CPAP machines may not be compatible which may demand a bigger battery.

Also, you can charge your phone/laptop while the power bank is being charged.

Gets Charged Quickly

Crave Powerpack comes with a wall adapter that is rated 45W. So, when the battery bank is empty, you don’t have to wait for days to fill it up. You can easily charge the power bank in a few hours.

Even though the adapter says 45W, when I tested the power input, it showed around 80W which is strange. Either way, it charges very quickly.

The cable included in the package is USB C to C but you can also charge this device with USB A to C cable. You can use either of the USB C ports on the power bank to recharge it. Also, I highly recommend getting an all in one USB cable link inCharge 6. It not only saves you time but also offers convenience.

Compact and Portable

Apart from having massive power at your fingertips, the manufacturer claims that Crave PowerPack clocks 4.19 pounds. Yes, it’s portable but again not that pocketable. The best thing is to carry it in your suitcase, backpack, or bag.

That way, you’ll charge your adventure without limits. No more running out of power and panicking when your new MacBook is on the verge of dying. Even catching those last moments of a game is a breeze.

What’s more? Our 50000mah power bank review settles any doubt and answers any query you’d be having about this particular portable charger. It’s up to you to grab this amazing gift. Overall, it’s a device you’ll ever want to have every time you’re leaving.

Final Verdict

Now that you know everything about this power bank, it is time to decide if you really need it. Honestly, having a 50,000mAh battery bank is not needed if you are a light traveler. But if you commute to work every day, take frequent road trips or outdoor adventures, then Crave Powerpack is extremely useful. Also, if your laptop does not support USB C charging, I wouldn’t recommend this power bank. The main features I liked are fast charging capability and portability. On the flip side, I really wish it had an AC power outlet.
