SHADOW – Minimal Waterproof Backpack

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Minimal Design
  • IPX6 Waterproof Rated
  • 22 and 26L Capacity Options
  • Lots of Pockets

Have we perhaps found the best waterproof backpack in the market? The SHADOW backpack promises to keep all your essentials dry while providing a modern look that will fit your daily lifestyle. So, does it deliver on its promises?

This bag comes in 2 variants, Shadow 22 and Shadow 26. The 22 liter version is good for daily commute while the 26 liter version is more suitable for short trips.

Completely Waterproof

The SHADOW Backpack has proprietary bond stitching and YKK Aquaguard zippers that make the bag totally waterproof. The manufacturers are so confident of its waterproofing abilities that the testing is done under 1200 PSI of water pressure. But does it work under the water? That’s debatable though! I don’t think it can withstand the pressure if immersed.

Pockets and Inside Space

While it is quite compact, you get a lot of space with the SHADOW backpack. We like the side pocket that easily fits items you constantly use, like your wallet and keys. You get more safety for your items due to the zipper’s lock action that has a laser etched hypalon construction.

Lots of pockets for different products

We feel that tech-kit is a good addition; you can secure your items and easily get access when you need them. Other functional additions include a pen holder, a water bottle holder, and a suspended laptop and tablet sleeve.

Other nice touches include a phone pocket with charging pass through, a magnetic key chain, airflow channels, and a luggage strap.

Suitcase-like Construction

The backpack comes with a suitcase like construction. You can completely unzip the top so that you have everything right in front of you, instead of rooting around in your bag for the item you are looking for.

Size

The bag is quite compact and very comfortable to carry. The height and width measurements are 48 cm and 30 cm, respectively.

The shoulder straps are ergonomic, so you don’t have to worry about sore shoulders at the end of the day. You can also stow away the straps on the back panel if you desire.

Final Verdict

Although most backpacks are not completely waterproof, it is possible to find a few online. But, the Shadow backpack is quite special due to its minimalistic design, lots of pockets and quality build. If you live in a place where it rains a lot, getting this backpack is definitely worth it. But if you are considering it only for travel, I would probably skip.
