First Impressions
From the glimpse, you can already say that Explorer 1000 Pro looks a lot sleeker and more aesthetic than the previous model. I really like the matte black look on it.
The handle design is changed. Now there is more gap between the handle and the body.
The new model weighs a lil higher and has a slightly larger size. On the flip side, it supports fast charging output ports, 1000 life cycles (double that of the old model) and an extra year of warranty. There are a few more general feature differences that can be seen on the tech specifications page.

Battery Capacity, Power and Surge
These three features are the exact same. I am slightly disappointed here. I wish they’d bumped up that battery capacity a bit.
Explorer 1000 | Explorer 1000 Pro
Power | 1000W | 1000W |
Battery capacity | 1002Wh | 1002Wh |
Surge | 2000W | 2000W |
Please note, neither of these power stations can be used as UPS
Charging
How fast the power station charges is important if you plan to use this device outdoors (say camping) or as an emergency battery backup. You want the device to charge as fast as possible from the power sources.
In this category, the Pro model comes out as a winner unanimously. It supports 800W solar input which is really good. You can either use fixed panels or a portable panel with it.
Full charge in just 1.8 hours? That’s insane!
Explorer 1000 | Explorer 1000 Pro
Solar panel | Supports 200W Max – About 8 hours for a full charge | Supports 800W Max – About 1.8 hours for a full charge |

Upgraded Display
The newer version has the upgraded advanced smart LCD screen that shows a lot more parameters than the Explorer 1000.
The E1000 model’s basic display gives you input and output wattage, battery % and warnings. The 1000 Pro’s display shows a lot more than that including voltage, frequency, discharge time, wifi, etc.
Top: Explorer 1000, bottom: 1000 Pro
The more is not always the better but in this case, having advanced data like recharge, and discharge times is very useful.
Performance
Since the power and battery capacities of these two battery stations are exactly the same, the performance will be almost similar. There could be slight (negligible) differences due to battery and circuit efficiencies.

Jackery Explorer 1000 vs. 1000 Pro – Which One To Choose?
If you saw all the feature differences, you already know the answer. For a difference of $100, if I am getting double the battery life cycle, smart features, and quick charging capabilities, it is a no-brainer to choose 1000 Pro over the previous model.
One question you may have is the product quality and performance questions. The Explorer 1000 pro is new so there is not much on it. It could break down after 6 months or it may have smart connection problems, etc.
BUT, Jackery has been in the industry for a long long time now and they can be trusted. Even if something goes wrong, they will happily replace the product for you. The 3-year warranty is a cherry on top of it. Also, the Pro version has many reviews from media and Amazon buyers. People are loving it. So, if you ask me, I would recommend the new model without even thinking. Don’t worry about the additional $100, get it.
